An Ethical Framework

A meditation on how we know, how we live, and how we give — written through the symbols of a landscape.

The Tree of Knowledge, White Stone, Bridge of Hope, and Market — Hudson River School

The Tree of Knowledge · The White Stone · The Bridge of Hope · The Market · The Circle

I climb the Tree of Knowledge, its roots sunk deep into the inexhaustible soil of reality. Here, I do not merely observe truth from a distance — I participate in it, drawing life from what is eternal.

From that high vantage, I behold a Lake — clear as crystal, still as glass, veiled in a quiet mist. As I gaze, I feel no turmoil, only a serene invitation: imitate the beauty you see before you.

Before me appears a White Stone, pure and luminous. I receive it as a gift — my acquittal, my forgiveness — inscribed not with condemnation, but with the name known only between myself and the One who gave it.

With the stone in hand, I step onto the Bridge of Hope. On one side lies suffering; on the other, resilience. Beneath, the river of life flows endlessly on. As I cross, hope fills me, steadying my steps.

The bridge leads me to the Market, a place of exchange and generosity. Here I share the good I have received, trading not for profit, but for the joy of mutual blessing.

From the market, I am drawn into the Circle — a fellowship where what is given returns, multiplied, and every act of love echoes back in abundance.
